Integrative Medicine

"Integrative medicine is nothing more than seeing and treating the person and their system as a whole."

Practice Methodology

My Vision

I work according to the principles of Integrative Medicine. In this, I combine conventional medicine with lifestyle medicine, possibly supplemented with treatments from complementary medicine.

This approach is characterized by a personal approach that primarily focuses on investigating the underlying problem, with treatment aimed at eliminating the causal disturbance.

Chronic complaints, in particular, can benefit from this integrative approach.

What Treatments and Interventions are Used?

In my practice, various treatment methods can be advised depending on the patient's needs. The goal is always to combine the best elements from different treatment methods for personalized and as effective care as possible.

In addition to conventional treatments, lifestyle medicine, orthomolecular medicine, and vital field therapy are possible interventions that are used.

First Consultation

Preferably, a treatment plan will be drawn up following the first consultation to provide a clear overview of the process. Recommendations for additional research may also be made.

Lifestyle Medicine

Lifestyle Medicine

One of the most important aspects of treatment is the implementation of lifestyle medicine. This involves examining potential disruptions in areas such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, sense of purpose, or exposure to toxic substances.

Often, a (long-term) disruption in one or more of these domains underlies a health problem. Especially in our current society where much is often demanded of us, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can come under considerable pressure. If this persists for too long, symptoms may occur or illness may develop.

By carefully examining what's going well and where improvements can be made, potential stress factors affecting your body and well-being can be addressed at their root. When disruptive stressors are reduced and sufficient positive conditions are created, the body can focus on recovery while maintaining resilience and vitality.

Orthomolecular Medicine

Orthomolecular Medicine

For optimal functioning, the body needs building blocks. These are macronutrients such as fats, proteins, and carbohydrates that provide energy and support growth - and micronutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which are crucial for numerous processes in the body.

A healthy and varied diet is preferably always the basis for obtaining these nutrients. However, in practice, this is not always feasible. Due to temptations from the food industry, consuming too much (industrial) processed food, or simply due to time pressure, our diet may be inadequate, and we may not get enough essential nutrients. At the same time, illness, chronic stress, or exposure to harmful substances can lead to a higher need for sufficient micronutrients.

This can lead to (relative) deficiencies that hinder the body's ability to recover or accelerate aging processes. Orthomolecular medicine looks at whether and how supplements can contribute to supporting the body and promoting recovery.

Microbiome analysis

Microbiome analysis

An increasing number of studies show a connection between microbiome composition and conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, metabolic diseases, autoimmune diseases, and even mood disorders. Understanding your personal (gut) microbiome can therefore be valuable in understanding and treating persistent or chronic complaints.

If desired, we will assess whether it might be relevant to investigate this further. The practice works with microbiome-center.nl for analysis and possible support in treating a disturbed microbiome.

Electromagnetic Field Therapy

Electromagnetic Field Therapy

In electromagnetic field therapy, it is recognized that in addition to the known biochemical processes, biophysical processes also occur in the body. The theory here is that biological systems can exchange information via electromagnetic signals. Certain chemical processes can be influenced by electromagnetic information transfer, allowing these signals to play a role in coordinating cellular processes.

When this is disrupted by influences such as illness, stress, or other chronic burdens, bodily functions can become unbalanced, contributing to the development of complaints or conditions.

With electromagnetic field therapy, the electromagnetic fields surrounding the body and emitted by the cells are specifically influenced. This supports the dynamic balance of various cellular processes, allowing the body to focus on recovery.
